My story (How and Why):
I never truly wanted to be a Marketer, let alone a Growth Marketer. Until 2018, marketing was another ‘fancy term’ for me.
It was in February 2018, that my friend Samson gifted me “Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson”. I wasn’t introduced to a visionary individual who wanted to transform the world in that book but to a marketer who was aware that he could. I was so inspired by it that, I quit my well-paying Engineering career to pursue my interest in marketing.
But since I had no idea where to begin, I joined a business as an intern in marketing. Almost everyone laughed at my story, but they all helped me get to where I am now in my skillset. So, I did not attend an IVY League school to learn Marketing or Growth but instead learned by doing it myself. Through trial and error. By putting various marketing strategies and campaigns into action.
Researching, generating hypotheses, trying, testing, and always optimizing.
After four years of working and growing startups as a Growth Marketer. I’m still fascinated by the knowledge I pick up from various sources every day. And that is the most enjoyable aspect of marketing. If you do not love learning, maybe marketing is not for you.
Being a lifelong student of growth and marketing. I curate the best marketing and growth content from the internet into my blog so you don’t have to scour the internet aimlessly looking for the best marketing strategy, growth hacks, and so on. Everything has been tried and tested by me or a fellow marketer friend, so you can focus solely on execution. Learn and grow alongside me. Finally, put what you’ve learned into practice. Without execution, learning is meaningless.
Krish, what makes a great marketer? People frequently ask me this question. I believe that what makes a great marketer is an obsessional appetite to learn new things and put them into practise. You will develop your abilities, knowledge, and inventiveness over time.
My favorite Quote from my all-time favorite show (Silicon Valley) :
Peter used to say that every successful company can look back at a defining moment early on where they would have died. Had it not been for the courage, & tenacity & maybe the insanity of one visionary person who put it all on the line. Even though it seems like a huge mistake at the time. A moment where all the metrics and numbers didn’t mean anything. It was all about emotion. It was about belief, rational or irrational. More than anything else, it is defined by his grit, resilience, and persistence.
